Out There : Newlyn and St Ives

Image
These two images, recently found on the internet, have been added to the Out There gallery page.

Latest : The Lobster Pot, Mousehole

Image
Just arrived today, this robustly impressionist piece exudes confidence, colour and light. The Lobster Pot referred to in the title is the well-known inn of that name, which to this day serves food and drinks in a bustle-like extension at the rear, overlooking the harbour, as seen in the centre of this scene. Painted in oil on Daler board, probably in the late 1950s. This picture is very similar to a watercolour owned by my sister Caroline.    More details are to follow.

Latest - Mines at Botallack

Image
Purchased very recently, this bold, impressionistic coastal scene is unmistakably of the old mine buildings on the cliffs at Botallack, on the north coast of Cornwall, near St Just.     There's more pictures and information on the picture's own page.
